La fotografia è l'arte del presente. L'essenza del suo rapporto con il mondo
risiede in ciò che è specifico, effimero e unico ogni giorno. Solo la fotografia
può catturare e preservare quei momenti della vita che altrimenti andrebbero persi
come lacrime nella pioggia. Solo la fotografia può scoprire, nelle pieghe del tempo,
quegli istanti fugaci di autoironia, o di commozione, che la vita genera mentre
scorre incessantemente, spontaneamente, senza preoccuparsi troppo se qualcuno se ne
accorge. Nel flusso di una vita ordinaria e sobria, il fotografo è come un pescatore
di perle nascoste nei gusci del tempo, un sub che trattiene il respiro prima di
immergersi.
THE TIME OF LIFE
Photography is the art of the present. The essence of its relationship with the
world lies in what is specific, short-lived and unique every day. Only photography
can capture and preserve those moments in life that would otherwise be lost as
tears in the rain. Only photography can discover, in the folds of time, those
fleeting instants of self-mockery, or of commotion, that life generates as it flows
incessantly, spontaneously, not caring too much whether someone notices. Within
the flow of an ordinary, understated life, the photographer is like a fisher of
pearls hidden inside the shells of time, a diver holding his breath before plunging
in.
